Investigate reflection

These last two weeks you have worked on your investigation process. Reflect and rate yourself using the rubric PLUS copy your response to QUIA.. Post with the subject INVESTIGATION REFLECTION. When you are finished continue with your 3 brainstorming designs.
I will give myself a 5 because i wasn't wasting time during class. i was prepared to come after school if i needed to. i did my best on everything i needed to do on that day.

You did not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors given below.
1–2 (60 / 70)You stated the problem.
You investigated the problem, collecting information from few sources.
You listed some specification points.
3–4 (75 / 85) You described the problem, mentioning its relevance.
You investigated the problem, selecting and analysing information from some acknowledged sources.
You described a test to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.
5–6 (95 / 100) You explained the problem, discussing its relevance.
You critically investigated the problem, evaluating information from a broad range of appropriate, acknowledged sources.
You described detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

Design brief

10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it. i am going to make a flip book about the design cycle for the 6th graders because it will give them a visual understanding.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment? the requirements for this assignment is the simplicity  for a 6th grader to understand.

12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment? That i only have a little bit of time to create a flip book.
13. How will you "test" your project? I will test it on how other students can easily understand the product.

PowerPoint

Category                 1-10
Theme                       8
Simplicity                  7
Effects                       9
Total                         24

I gave a powerpoint a 9 on theme because the background can be what ever color you want it to be. You can also change the font to match the background. And you can can put animation on the slide, picture or text. That is why i gave theme a 9.
I gave a powerpoint a 7 on simplicity. It is simple to make a quick powerpoint, but when you want to add stuff such as animation on font, it can take awhile to understand it. On making it, it can take some time but it is simple when viewing it since you only have 2 buttons to use. It will be easy for 6th graders to understand since all they have to do is read and press 2 buttons. That is why i gave it a 9.
I gave powerpoint a 8 on effects because you have many effects to choose from. You can change how the font appears on the screen. These are simple effects so every modern computer should be able to run it. That is why i gave it a 9.

Flip Book

           Category                         1-10
           Theme                               8
           Simplicity                         10
           Effects                               8
           Total                                 26

I gave flip book a 8 on theme because you can make the pictures you want them to be. It is also good for visual learners because it explains the design cycle using pictures. It also shows color so it isn't limited on black and white. This is why i gave flip book a 8 on theme.
I gave flip book a 10 on simplicity because it is very simple. All you have to do it to draw pictures. You don't have to read or write much which many students don't want to do. That is why i gave simplicity a 10.
I gave flip book a 8 on effects because it creates animation like you see in television. You can do many other effects using animation. Students would want to see this because it has animation so they aren't looking at a unchanging picture. That is why i gave effects an 8 for flip book.

day 2 -investigation reflection

Today, i researched arcade games and flip book i found on websites:http://www.classtools.net/education-games-php/quizthese and http://www.benettonplay.com/toys/flipbookdeluxe/index.php are the website i found the information. Right now i have chosen, arcade games and still have not decided which tool i will use to teach the design cycle.

design cycle #1

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world? It shows the steps on making a product. In the real world people use this to create products.
3. How will this project serve my community? It will help 6th graders on what the design cycle is about and what it is used for.
4. How can my learning help my community? It will help people create products and compare them to see what is the best one.
5. How do we live in relation to each other? To compare each others work.
6. How does this help others? Someone might use this in the future.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment? identify the problem, write down all your sources, document info, and write a reflection.
8. What is the Design Cycle? a cycle you use to create a product.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
13. How will you "test" your presentation?
REFLECT ON YOUR LEARNING
PLAN:
14. Brainstorm ideas. Use the chart below
IB Brainstorming Chart .pdf found in schoology under “materials”& then files
15. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it?
16. Does your idea meet all of the requirements?
17. Use the story board paper below to plan your presentation.  Include how many levels you will have, what will be on each level, how will you include teaching skills to young students, and what will your questions be about.
story board.pdf found in schoology under “materials” & then files.
18. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days:
REFLECT on your learning
EVALUATE:
20. How could you improve your presentation?
21. Does your presentation meet all of the requirements?
22. Share your presentation with at least 2-8th, 3-9th, 4-10th+ friends. What did he/she like about your presentation?
23. Reflect on all the steps of the Design Cycle. What did you do well? What do you need to improve?
24. Were you responsible in using the software, Internet, pictures, and computer?
25. How can my learning help my community?
26. What grade do you deserve on this project? (1 - 6)

ATTITUDE:
27. Reflect on your attitude on each step of the Design Cycle. Did you completely answer each step without complaining, being a whiny baby, or saying "it's too hard". Explain your answer:
28. What grade do you deserve on your attitude? (1 - 6)
